The target audience for this cover are probably teenagers, both male and female(16- 20) who enjoy R&B, rap, and hip-hop music. I find this album cover quite interesting, It's very simple and the use of negative space results in you focusing on the title of the album. I believe the designer's idea for this cover was to have it be simplistic, straight to the point. It fits the vibe of the album well. when you see this cover, it looks exactly how you would imagine the album to sound. This was seen as the cover art for Frank Ocean's album "Channel Orange"
